The Story of Lorraine Moore and Lorraine’s Handbags
We asked Lorraine Moore all about her business making handbags.
“I started Lorraine’s Handbags in April 2017 and we are growing steadily. For a long-time, I had been making my handbags for family and friends, for special occasions like weddings, christenings, graduations, etc.
It was suggested to me that because my handbags were bespoke and unique, that other people would be interested in them and that I should sell them.
Lorraine Moore and her Handmade Handbags
For all you know, Lorraine’s Handbags are handmade. They are unique, no two handbags are the same fabric design. Many of the handbags are special occasion custom-made orders. Customers can also see and purchase ready-made handbags and accessories on my Website, Etsy or Facebook Shop.
My main products are handmade handbags and accessories like purses, wallets, and makeup pouches.
I love making my handbags. Creating new shapes and designs is what I love. AIso, I love fabric, and never get tired of seeing all the gorgeous designs, textures, and colors.
I want my customers to feel a sense of happiness when they choose the fabric and design for their handbag, and to know what they have ordered is specifically made for them. That’s a special feeling. I love to create that feeling for a customer.
When you love what you do, it’s not like work. My customers can choose their fabric and design for their custom-made handbags.
I only make one of each fabric handbag, it is unique to one customer.
Lorraine Moore’s Advice for Others Starting out in their business
My advice to others who are just starting their business is that you have to know your market. Secondly, sell or make a unique product. It’s a tough market, you need to stand out from the crowd. Finally, have a good online presence, be seen, and look professional.
Making my business look professional, better photography. Especially now when my customers cannot touch or feel my handbags. Existing customers have commented on the good quality and vibrant colors of my handbags and accessories. I want this to be evident in my marketing.
It has been many small achievements that have helped me along the way, especially when sometimes it has been hard to muster energy and enthusiasm to go into my sewing room.
I love to spend my free time with my family. Walking my dog clears my head and helps me focus on what I need to do next.”
