Jolene knew from a young age that she wanted to sell cars but there were no car sales ladies that she knew of. This made it tough to get a job, so she went to university and got a job at Saville Row. Six months later she convinced her first boss at Peugeot, Coleraine to hire her. After this she moved onto BMW and then joined her family business, P McKenna Motors.
At P McKenna Motors, Jolene sells new and used cars to both the Public and to local companies. They also provide a #carsourcing4you service and this really builds on the already made business Jolene’s father had for years. The company also have the Fleet Management Service which supplies and maintain fleets of cars and vans for the local companies keeping their fleet on the road.
Why Jolene loves her Customers at P McKenna Motors
Jolene loves finding the right car for her clients, whether that is one she has stocked or one she sources in for them. She also absolutely loves that she can be confident in handing over any car she sells as they are being fully checked, serviced and MOT’d if necessary, before handover. Jolene really loves the fact that she gets to meet new people every day through her business. She loves dealing with families; from supplying someone’s first time car to finding a smaller car for parents who no longer need a big family car.
Problems that Jolene solves for Customers
The problem Jolene solves for her customers ranges depending if it’s for companies or one on one customers. For the Companies she works with, they ensure to minimise any downtime where possible and have a quick turnaround time for all company car maintenance as well. Her business also has a dedicated collect and return service for companies, so salespeople have a permanent role.
“For all our customers it is about taking the hassle and time wasted and take the anxiety out of purchasing cars” Jolene never wants anyone to feel worried about their new purchase or concerned about the risks involved particularly when buying used cars. To minimise all this, they hand pick all cars and service EVERY car they sell whether. They also provide Roadside assistance and Low rate finance.
If she was to change anything about the business, it would be to move beside a main road for passing traffic to see their business.
Advice for others starting in business
Jolene’s advice for someone starting off in business is to make sure you love what you do. It is best to take time to work out the costs involved and any funding issues as well.
In Jolene’s spare time she likes to take her two children away for the day. She will take them on long walks and get them ice cream in either the winter or summer. She also enjoys meeting up with her friends and going for a meal or little vino.

She has the ability to walk into any room of people and feel more confident and secure in herself and in her job role than she has ever done. She has also had an increase in business from the Facebook Group through the members or their family members. Jolene has also made so many friends.
