Jennifer’s Business Journey

Jennifer graduated from University of Ulster Art College in Surface Pattern Design. She then went onto work in her family’s business in the construction industry. After having her son, she wanted to see more of his life, so she went back and re-trained and qualified as an Interior Designer. This led to her launching Ultimate Interior Design. Her business has grown from strength to strength, and now she can combine her passion for Interior Design in all the work I do. Jennifer said; “I love the fact that I am continually helping my clients make the best out of their homes. My job is so rewarding.”

For her, it’s always challenging but that is what makes it special. No two days are the same. Every job is unique, and she has met some of the most wonderful people in both her clients, suppliers and trades. Something Jennifer never knew before starting her business is that she gets her wisdom and design solutions at all the hours of the day and night meaning there is no start or finish time. She also had to learn all about social media and how to utilise it.

Jennifer McCreesh and Ultimate Interior Design keeping up to date

Jennifer’s goals for the future is to keep gaining public awareness through her social media and more advertising. She also explained that Interior Design is an ever changing industry, so she needs to keep up to date with the training courses and visit trade shows, so she knows that the products she is offering is up to date and on trend.

Jennifer and Mums at Work

Jennifer joined Mums at Work after her friend and fellow designer Maggie Brady told her about the group. She joined and has really enjoyed the interaction with fellow like minded ladies. She said; “It’s a fantastic and knowledgeable group and a fantastic means of networking.”

Since joining Jennifer has collaborated with other members of the group. She recently collaborated with Irene McGeehan from Hummingbirds Design with fabric sample packs. Herself and Maggie Brady from Pearl Redesigns both worked on the same project a few years ago, and she provided her clients with “the most beautiful up-cycled furniture.” Jennifer also collaborated with Stefany Watson, who she described as “a wealth of knowledge on all things social media related.” Jennifer worked with Catriona Corrigan from Divine Photography and Aisling O’Connor from Dream Beauty, when they prepped and provided her with “a beautiful set of professional head shot photographs for my business.” Outside of collaboration Jennifer has also purchased prints from Jacqueline Rooney Art and Norwex products from Christina Dickson and also a stunning door wreath from Louise Morrow from Jasmine & Lily Floral Wreaths.

Jennifer loves the networking, advice, knowledge and welcoming feel from the group. The coffee mornings are a great way for her to get together with the other ladies and catch up in her free time.

Jennifer’s advice to others

Jennifer’s advice to anyone starting their own business is to have a long hard think about it. She recommends investigating all aspects of what business you would like to open, who your customers would be, what hours you intend to work, how much money it may take to fund the commencement of a business, how that business may conflict with your personal and family life. However, she also said; “My heart would tell you to go for it – I did. I continue to work hard and make the best of what I have to offer. As  result, I enjoy getting up each morning and going to work, it’s one of the best achievements in my life.”

Jennifer also enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She is fortunate to live in the most beautiful countryside and enjoys long walks with the dogs.  She also said; “I am happiest most when I am able to visit Co.Donegal. There I could quite happily spend days by the sea. It helps me relax and unwind.”
