Biography

I’m a Business Adviser, Mentor, Trainer, Project Manager, specialising in business start up, female entrepreneurship and social enterprise.

I quit Employment in 2009, after 13 years working for enterprise agencies, 7 of which I was the Manager of East Belfast Enterprise. During that time I lead the development and build of a £3m business centre (even though I had no construction skills!!). City East is now a thriving successful hub for business on the Lower Newtownards Road in close proximity of Belfast city centre.

I’m a mum of 3 kids with a hubby who works away a lot which is why being self-employed suits me. I also feel my own personal journey makes me a better mentor – as well as working on the business stuff I can identify with all the challenges of getting started and being a mumpreneur!!

Over the years I’ve worked a lot on social enterprise and sat on many Voluntary Boards. I’ve been supporting Specialisterne NI for 5 years, a social enterprise who help young people and adults with autism  improve their job prospects and get into work. I am currently Treasurer and the only original Board member.

14 years ago I was one of the original founders of Women in Business. I had been running a programme with female entrepreneurs in the Greater Belfast area and it  had just come to the end. The group said “Roisin we love our meetings, can you support us to keep meeting and invite more women along too?” And so it all began..I found funding, lead the set up of a Board and scheduled regular events. I was a Board Member for 7 years and now work for Women in Business on a freelance basis delivering programmes to startups.

I work on business mentoring, business training, project management, grant funding, group facilitation, business plans and strategy. I mainly work through Council programmes or for enterprise agencies or not for profit organisations. I have a degree in European Business Studies, and MBA and a Diploma in Digital Marketing.

4 Reasons why you might need a Business Consultant

  1. Business Consultants Save You Time and Money

Without a business consultant, you may be relying on trial and error to move forward. This can be a costly way to learn, especially if you make expensive mistakes. You may also be spending hours on research before making business decisions. This can be very time-consuming and can delay decision-making.

A business consultant has the expertise and knowledge to help you strategically plan, make decisions and grow your business. You remain in the driver’s seat, but a consultant furnishes you with the knowledge and insights you need, freeing you up to focus on your business.

  1. A Business Consultant Can Help You Plan for the Future

In the day-to-day operations of your company, are you losing sight of your long-term goals? A business consultant can help you step back and create strategies for expansion and growth years from now, ensuring you are focused on the future. Since business consultants have worked with larger companies, they know what it takes to get to the next level.

  1. A Business Consultant Can Prime You to Take Advantage of Opportunities

Do you have the strategies and processes in place to notice new opportunities? If your product or service suddenly takes off, do you have a plan in place to deliver them to a much larger number of customers without losing reputation or cutting corners? A business consultant can help you create processes so you stay alert to opportunities. They can also help you develop strategies you can initiate immediately to maximize opportunities and sudden growth as it occurs.

  1. Business Consultants Give You an Objective View

Business consultants can give you a third-party view of your business and an honest evaluation of operations. This objective view can help you with future planning and can help you find the mistakes or issues that may be holding you back from true success.

Why You Need a Small-Business Consultant Today

Whether you own a new company or an established business that’s hoping to grow even more, a business consultant can help. This is the right time to hire a business consultant. You can always use an objective, experienced view and solid plans for your company.
