Our member, mum of 1, Fiona McToal, aged 45, creates customised, couture headpieces, all handstitched using traditional techniques.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Fee was made redundant in 2012 and mentally couldn’t go back to an office job so she decided to make quirky clutch bags which led her into millinery.
Based in Ballymoney, she creates customised, couture headpieces, all handstitched using traditional techniques.
Fee says that her biggest struggle in your business is gaining confidence for getting known and scheduling a plan of work each week. Fiona would also say she would like more knowledge on marketing.
Her successes include being placed second in the category of “Established milliner 2018” at the Hatwalk18 competition in Derry.
Proud wife and mummy of one son, Fee loves going to the movies with family, away for weekends, out catching up with friends.
Her advice to other ladies in the group who are thinking of starting their own business is to do a little market research first before investing time and money. She says, “Do your research, gather information like trade testing to see if idea is viable.”
I love catching up with Fee at the Mums at Work Events and to hear all about her new products and ideas.
